The best places to get a drink in Ålesund
Like for food, it is impossible to have a ranking of all the places where you can get a drink.
Ålesund is a small town but still offers many possibilities, which can be chosen according to your current mood, maybe your age, and more importantly, your choice of poison.
Here is a few ideas:

1. For the calm and cosiness: 1904 hotel's bar
How often did you enter in a hotel in which you didn’t have booked a room before, just to see how beautiful it is inside ? This is how we discovered the bar of the 1904 hotel for the first time, excited by the beautiful design we could see from outside. Once you get up the stairs and go to your right, pass by the magnificent shop, you will find yourself in the coziest of bars.

2. For the love of beer: Molo
This one is a pretty easy one. If you love beer, this is the place. Molo, the bar, is also a brewery place. Experimentations, seasonal beers, all-time classics, you can’t get wrong with the 20+ beers they offer on the tap, all year round. Long tables, board games, burgers and traditional Norwegian table-curling are part of the package of this institution in town.

3. For the mood and atmosphere: O’connors
O’connors is the newly arrived baby in town. And we cannot thank it enough to be here and to bring a cheerful vibe full of people during cold winter evenings. Alongside with beers, ciders and Irish food classics, you always get this amazing mix of people that make such a nice atmosphere.

4. For the wine: Vino Bar
If you’re more into wine, we have the perfect solution for you. Vinobar has a fantastic cave, full of many bottles coming from all over the world. It has actually been voted the best wine bar recently according to the diversity of its menu.

5. For the Cocktails: Milk
Now that we covered beer and wine, the cocktail lovers are getting unpatient. There are a few places in town where you can get good cocktails but Milk bar, located on the boat on the port, is undeniably the place for it. With more than hundred drinks to chose from, we’re pretty sure you’re gonna find what you’re looking for !

6. For the dancebeat: Dampsentralen
For some people, drinking goes alongside with dancing and enjoying the beat. Dampsentralen, the big pink building in front of the newly renovated bus terminal, offers various events every week-end. There, you can eat and drink and the dance floor will open its doors (or its curtains, in this case) until 2am on Saturdays.

7. For the pub vibe: Dirty Nelly
Just on the corner next to the Jugendstil Senteret Museum, you will find Dirty Nelly. This is exactly where you want to be during football match evenings if you like the true authentic, warm and inviting mood. The interior is beautifully designed and decorated and the place, (obviously) often packed with people.

8. For the late nights: Smutthullet
Whoever the person it is you’re askin to in town, they will for sure have a story about Smutthullet’s Pub. You usually come here for the last drink of the night, enjoying the cheap beers or the billard in the room in the back. If you don’t like shiny and polished places so much, it is a very nice and laid back place to be in.

9. For the Rock n’ Roll: T2
T2 is both a Mexican restaurant on your right and a bar and concert scene on your left that we could qualify as the independent Rock n’ Roll vibe you need. It addition to the wonderful terrasse outside for the beautiful summer days it also has a billard and a few pinball/flipper machines inside.

10. For the unexpected: Piano Bar
The last option we are presenting you is as unexpected as a night spent here. In a good way. Always full of people despite a first narrow-ish entrance, the barmen are very kind and welcoming. Once you get to the upper floor, you will find a great outside area that is covered and warmed during cold evenings. Are you coming alone ? No problem ! The big wooden tables are here to make sure you find new friends. Speaking from experience !
